Workshop at Scarboro United Church by Calgary Alliance

This past weekend (Nov 1–2), the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good hosted the Foundations of Community Organizing workshop at Scarboro United Church — and IDI was proud to take part! The training introduced powerful principles of relationship-based leadership and effective community organizing — approaches rooted in over 70 years of experience from the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in helping communities create meaningful social change.

Participants explored how to:
– Build leadership through relationships
– Understand and use power with rather than power over
– Break down complex social problems into actionable issues
– Engage in power analysis, action, and negotiation for the common good

At the end of the workshop, participants proudly received their Certificates of Completion, ready to take their learning into action!
